I have a neighbor who was raised Mormon and my son loves play with hers outside. I say this because they will not come into my home, but recently invited me to her church Btw: is 3 hours long. So for a few weeks I have JW's knocking on my door and I have been refuting them and now today my neighbor sent some Elders from her church to come visit <a big groan>. I try to be polite as they handed me their book of mormon and asked me to pray and ask God to show me if what they said is true. Would it be too brazen of me to say to them, "Yeah I read it, prayed about it, and He said He didn't know because He never heard of you?" Or is God trying to sharpen my knowledge of His word? Thanx CMT

ORIGINAL: CMT8808 So for a few weeks I have JW's knocking on my door and I have been refuting them and now today my neighbor sent some Elders from her church to come visit <a big groan>. I try to be polite as they handed me their book of mormon and asked me to pray and ask God to show me if what they said is true. God is sanctifying you, sharpening His Word in you, and making you a light to people who believe in false gods (note the small "g"). God invites JWs and Mormons to Himself and some of them come; I'm one of them, a former Mormon and now a child of God by His grace and blood. The real God, not the one named Adam who had sexual intercourse with Mary to produce Jesus and later grew up to be God Almighty. Yes, they really believe this, but they'll lie about it unless you back them into a corner. Or the "missionary" is a new convert and hasn't be told the truth about what they really believe yet (yes, they have two sets of beliefs, and only the higher-level members know the second set exists). It's called "Adam-God." It's a crock when they ask you to pray if the Book of Mormon is real or not; God gave us His Word in black and white. It can't be added to. Our feelings can be influenced by the cold pizza we had for breakfast, and our hearts can be lied to by spirits. God chose to reach most of us with an objective Book; you are wise to stick to it. I wouldn't be snarky with these poor lost souls, but tell the truth boldly. When Mormons come to my door, first of all I won't let them in (because they won't leave when you want them to, and I make lemonade and set chairs under shady trees to talk to JWs) but I start talking before they hardly have a chance. "The Bible says a true prophet never lies but Joseph Smith said there were people living on the moon who were 10 feet tall and dress like Quakers. He said he saw God the Father when Jesus said no one has ever seen the Father except the Son; one of them is lying. You guys, I'm afraid have been lied to, and I encourage you to embrace the true God of the Bible. Go read it, and not the tampered-with Inspired Version. God bless you guys and lead you to the real God! I'm praying for you!" And gently close the door, and pray like a big dog because it's a spiritual battle. A great book for you to get is Walter Martin's "Kingdom of the Cults" that puts Mormon and JW teaching side-by-side with biblical teaching, and tells you how to witness to these poor lied-to people. The Mormons used to sue this guy over and over, and they never once won because he used all of their published material to prove what they really believed. There's a video at the Christian bookstore called "The God Makers" that is their leadership talking about Adam-God and Blood Atonement ("if you sin really bad you have to shed your own blood to pay for it; Jesus' wasn't enough" which is dead wrong, of course) and is very interesting and totally damning. When you deal with cultists like Latter Day Saints (Mormons) and JWs, it's intense spiritual warfare. Make sure your sins are 'fessed up, and go loaded for spiritual bear. Have people praying for you, and get someone who's a former cultist but now mature Christian in good reputation to come help you if you set up a date to talk to anyone in a cult. The lies and spiritual battle will be heavy (it totally exhausts me to do this, and I find myself vunerable to lies for about a week afterwards) so don't take it lightly. But don't be afraid, either - God will help you and He brings the victory! After all, He saved you, right? He can use you to save others, even if you're only a small link in the chain. Boldly proclaim His truth, and God bless you! (Totally ironic; as a newlywed, we bought a house next to a Mormon bishop. He never did want to hear anything from us. Hey, we were available! He knew that if he believed us, he would have lost his job, his house and his family. Poor man between a rock and a hard place). One of the biggest sources of new membership in the Mormon church is a mainstream Christian denomination, because they don't teach the Bible well and the members don't recognize error when it's in their face. "Gee, those Mormons are so nice and family-oriented; I think I'll go to church there." Not a good move. Mormons think Adam was Jesus' father and that Jesus and the devil are brothers and that good Mormon elders become gods after they die and sexually procreate children for all eternity. True, the Mormons deny these beliefs to new members... Go see the video, "The God Makers," and hear it from their own leaders' lips. And God bless you, protect you, and save your poor neighbors by His infinite grace to the lost!

Well this past thursday was truly eventful. Originally when the JW stopped it was 2 men, then next week 2 women, ironically I must have weakened the one young lady, because the next week they sent the 1 woman, but with a different woman. Then Thursday this woman shows up with her husband. What? No more women? Lol, here they stood and he had a briefcase, so I said, "Listen this is it. I read your booklet and I disagree, because what I am reading you are like a Unitarian and this is not what I believe. I believe in a Triune God. You need not just the Father, but God the Son and God the Holy Spirit that dwells within us." I continued in how in their booklet that they were imposing rules and how I believe in the Grace of God. She hesitate and believe in a sense she felt embarrassed because she brought her husband this time as I stated earlier. I also explained how I am a medical professional and I deal in blood, believe in blood transfusions, simply because it is the blood of Christ that has atoned us. Her husband picked up his brief case and they walked away. Later I received a phone call from the LDS Elders who wanted me to meet with them, being men refused to enter my home stating it was out of respect for me. However wanted to set up a meeting with and my neighbor lady who my son plays with hers. (I find her cruel in her position, because my son played with hers and she put an abrupt stop to it. But I suppose a cultic attitude does that to one) Anyhow they called to set up a meeting and basically insisted that we meet at her home. I told them it is impossible for me to meet at the time they were reccommending, because of my husband's work schedule and that they would have to come here. They actually groaned on the phone and said okay we will speak with sister*****. I sat in my chair pondering and spoke with my husband that I decided to call them. I asked for the Elder and told him, Listen I am offended by you and your community. Sister ***** has never entered my home and basically wants the meeting in her home. Well what does she think the devil lives here? I am a Christian and I will not meet with you, because I believe that Jesus is the Life the Truth and the Way. I will be more than happy to return your book to sister ***. and they replied: That is our gift to you! I do not know if I handled it totally appropriately, but I have to say maybe that is what the Lord wanted to hear. Me standing up for what I believe in and that is HIM! CMT

I wish I had seen this before I had called them last night, after their 'enlightening' conversation. Can I ask what is the deal about entering people's homes? I know this lady literally covered one of her sons eyes because I had cartoons on for my son. She covered his eyes and pulled him away from my door, mumbling under her breath. Yet she didn't think anything about sending elders to my home with out consulting me and then refusing to again come to my home. Is this how they are? and actually I asked them about her behaviour and if they considered it Christ-like behaviour? They lied and said she was willing to come to my home, but I certainly knew better. (I got a feeling so to speak.) CMT
