(What on earth is growing in this coffee pot??? Someone, get a container! We'll take some to the local U biology dept. Pries pot out of machine, does total sanitation makeover on machine and pot, reloads with A-rabb-bicka grounds, slap, whoosh, pours, brings out new can of no-fun whipped cream for Ray and his older friends and a small decorative flask for the holidays and just a nip in the cup and some froth on the top. Kicking back with feet toward the log-iron stove that's cold! What a day to come visit! Loads up the stove on top of the sports pages of yesterweek, One match, wahlaahhh! Snap, crackle, pop! Closes door.)

Hey all! Even with these wonderful eyedrops I can't see anyone in here, so I'll just enjoy my hard-earned Irish coffee and keep moving on. Things are sustaining, praise be to the Lord, though there's a couple things I'm looking forward to. For starters... .

Well, Florida has a great chance of losing the SEC championship this year. Bama going all the way to yet another national win sure would be something to help brighten this year. I hope everyone else had a blessed Thanksgiving weekend and maybe even a football win.

Must soar off again. Enjoy the taste o' the Irish in your mug today. Denny, you might even bring out a clean mug from that bike of yours for this one.

Ahhhh...warmth!

Toasts hands in front of fire.

Yes, the Huskers pulled a victory with a 57-yard field goal to put them in the lead and then a last minute touchdown was icing on the cake. Now it looks like Florida State in the Gator Bowl. Haven't had good experiences with FS in bowl games over the years.

Let no good deed go unpunished.

Or so the axiom goes.

Yesterday Tooshy and I stopped at the local grocery store for a few supplies. They were very busy. All of the handicap parking places were taken. After dropping Tooshy off at the door, I parked at the back of the lot. Tooshy used one of their electric carts, and soon we had our supplies and checked out.

Not wanting Tooshy to have to walk or ride the electric cart out in the cold, I told her to have a seat inside while I retrieved the car. Walking out with handfuls of grocery bags, I was approached by two women at the entrance of the building.

They too had handfuls of bags, and were asking for a ride to their appartment not far away. They said something about someone having left them there and taking off without them.

Whatever.

I agreed to give them a ride, but there would not be enough room in the car for all four of us because of the baby's car seat. After walking back inside briefly to explain to my wife what was going on, I asked her to just wait for me and I'd be back momentarily.

After dropping the two women off outside their appartment building, I returned to pick up Tooshy. We continued home. It wasn't until later that I realized that Tooshy's purse was on the floor in the back seat of the car within reach of one of the women.

Amazingly, they didn't steal her purse. The contents of the usual purse-filling paraphernalia including driver's license, check book, credit cards, gift cards and cash were all still there.

What was missing?

Apparently, just inside the top of her purse were some prescription drugs that are now missing.

Thank God for protecting us from further damage. Of all the years that I've given strangers a ride many times, this is the first time that something went badly. There's a lesson there that I must re-learn. Not everyone is trustworthy.

Too true. We live in a sinful world. I think that can be discouraging at times, but you sound like a blessed man none the less. To have a wife with that kind of patience and a heart of gold is a huge blessing. Keep on keeping on.

With how much some meds cost, and the weak dollar, they are more valuable than a roll of Benjamins!! A couple months ago, my wife being a teacher had to deal with some kids who spent the night at their Grandparents, and brought back fist full of drugs to sell at school.

The pharmacy price would be about $50.00, but that's only if you can get a prescription. To an addict they may be worth a lot more.

My wife was able to get a new prescription and insurance covered it, so we're only out about $10.00 on the deal. But the important part is that she has the meds now in case she needs them. That's the one thing I was concerned about. God was good to us.

I'm glad you are out only $10. But hey, ya' know if you "lost" another re-fill, you could probably sell them to those girls for $10 per pill.

If I didn't have a good conscience, I'd make a great crook and could make a ton of $$$.

It sounds to me like Ms. Tooshy was smart to leave her funds in the car and let Ray buy the groceries. The old rule was always leave your valuables you don't want stolen in the trunk.

Now, anyone with access to the car interior can usually just swing down the back seat and there's the trunk stuff.

APZR, you have any experience with molding plastics? There could be a market for a plastic wall of theft-proofness, except I forgot about the trunk pop-up button. Hmmm... maybe a convenient removable fuse on a ring for that feature... and customized fuses so it couldn't be easily duplicated. I'd better shut up, the future car czar may be listening.

That was in our Ford Escape...no trunk. If I'd known the purse was there I would have moved it to the back cargo area out of reach though.

And we're getting freezing rain. By tomorrow morning it is supposed to have warmed up enough to be rain. I always thought that was some strange weather when you wake up in the morning and it's warmer than it was yesterday.
