Second hand stores are a good idea. I need to find some with a good maternity selection. We have a BUNCH of ones with kid stuff but some of the maternity stuff is iffy. I'll figure it out, I'm sure.

I think I'll wait until it's a little closer(our first event is the 4th of Dec) and see how my belly is looking. Fortunately they aren't all semi-formal, but my usual wardrobe of jeans and long-sleeve tshirts is not going to work, lol.

I got nearly all my maternity clothes (that I didnt get to use many of) from a yardsale. We got lucky, found a girl that was my size and was selling all her stuff! I also borrowed a few things.

Try craigslist and freecycle, too.

Okay dokey, little overwhelmed, lol. So here goes
Yes I work in the hospital, I'm an RN in labor and delivery. I know the ob I'm going to pretty well and I will actually be one of his last few patients.
As for labor, I would prefer to noy be induced, I'm okay with the IV, if things get hairy they get hairy fast and access is needed
Monitoring is okay if I can still move around, which they're really good at,I'm unsure on the epidural though. That's all I got so far.
Dh has been to one appt with me, so he knows the exam, thankfully I just had one so I most likely won't have to have another one.
They will do a US, will we see or hear the heart beat? You ladies are amazing, thank you so much for being so patient!

When they do the u/s you should be able to see the heartbeat and wiggly little bean. Well, if yours wiggles. One of mine was a wiggler, this one is not so much

Popping in again. :-) Just wondering if any of you ladies had the majority of your pg symptoms start after 8 weeks? I'm not complaining, but I think I may be a late bloomer. I had some minor ones earlier, and none for the past week. Still waiting!

I had very few symptoms early on with Josh. This one (surprise) I started thinking I was late and dreading the return of irregular cycles and then realized I had been queasy every morning (and a good bit of the day) for a week and my breasts were sore all.the.time. Umm, yeah maybe I should mention this to Mark? And about 3 days later I'm POAS and calling the OB.

Every pregnancy is different. I'm told there are some pregnancies where you don't feel a thing. The only way you know your pregnant is the fact that the test told you so. I've also known women who were sick from the moment they conceived. It all varies. I wouldn't worry about it. The only thing you should worry about is if you start bleeding... and bleeding clots. I spotted with my first around 9 weeks (FREAKED out) and that was normal.

It appears we've decided on a name! I tried everything I could to avoid using a J name, but it's the only name we both felt a peace about.

Our second son's name is Joshua John

TWO J's! LOL

Joshua means, "Yahweh is salvation" and John means, "Yahweh is gracious."

We chose John because that was his father's name. We both felt it was important to use that name this time. Mom cried when we told her.

and, with Joshua, it just feels right!

I thought this was cute... Jason and I were talking about the name and he said, "It seems fitting. Where would we be if Jesus and John hadn't paved the way?"

I never had any pregnancy symptoms at all, the whole pregnancy, just a little tiredness at first.

Janine, what a great name! I can commiserate re J names; DH and I are both J names. DH wants the kids to have J names too (all of them ). I want to be able to keep them straight with as few memory lapses as possible!

Archer, as others have said, every woman is different, and sometimes every pregnancy is too. If you're not feeling any nausea, simply be thankful and try not to worry (I know, I know, easier said than done).

Yes. My symptoms didn't start until 6 weeks, but they intensified significantly at 8 weeks. Weeks 8 and 9 were the worst. Things started to improve in weeks 10-11.

Archer, I spent most of my first trimester thinkign that if I didn't KNOW I was pregnant, I would never have guessed it :) I had some minor morning sickness and some food aversions but both of those things can be normal for me anyway I still don't really "feel" pregnant, just a bit more tired then normal(and I'm having Braxton hicks, but those aren't super common this early).

Well... I hit 2 thrift stores and found a couple good things. Some non-maternity old navy long sleeve tshirts that will last me awhile, 2 sweaters(NICE ones from the Gap), and 2 nice pairs of flats. Micah gave me "permission"(we are on a strict budget right now to save to buy a house) to buy some new jeans, a pair of black boots, and a top that I've been lusting over

I'm going to our local thrift store on Saturday to see if I can find some maternity clothes. I'm having trouble finding mat. jeans that fit. I'm a curvy girl and don't care for giant bell-bottoms, and apparently it's difficult to find jeans that meet both of those criteria.

Also, it's obvious that pregnant women must all prefer short skirts, since I haven't been able to find any that fall below the knee, even in the extended sizes. I just want to find one nice mid-calf black skirt. It doesn't seem like that would be so difficult.

Shoot, Bethany. I just saw a bunch of curvy woman maternity jeans at one of the thrift stores I frequent.

I bid on a pair of maternity jeans on eBay last night, so maybe those will fit. I'd like to have more than one pair, though!

The secret fit ones from Motherhood are incredibly comfortable and run true to size. I adore them.

I wasn't sure if I should be weirded out or complimented... but as I walked home from the court house (jadon plays there) I got whistled at and cat calls. I admit I picked up my phone almost immediately to feel 'safer' after that.

but, heck, who - PREGNANT - can say some strange men whistled at them? Not sure I want to be that person, but I never thought THAT would happen! I didn't even have make up on.

This has always been a frustration for me.

Last time around, I only had one "real" maternity skirt. I had several I altered myself (not very professional looking), and a few nonmaternity skirts that had enough stretch to work.

I did eventually find a *perfect* black skirt that works for both pregnancy and non-preggo. It's black stretch courderoy.

You might try some non-maternity clothes. Regular long skirts that are knit actually work pretty well, they grow with your shape but don't look as dumpy as just a big elastic waisted skirt would.

I got a cute broomstick type skirt from Sam's, it had a wide waist, kind of like smocking I guess (not sure how to describe it) it was a regular non maternity skirt but the way it was made it worked great while pregnant too.

I wore non-maternity skirts too. I just got a size up with an elastic waist. Regular ones are relatively easy to alter if you have basic sewing skills.

Thanks for the skirt advice, ladies! I'll be sure to look for something stretchy a size up in regular sizes, too. I do have one broomstick skirt I think I'll be able to continue to wear, but it's a print fabric and I need to find a black one.

Now that I think about it, I do have a stretchy black velvet skirt that I bought at the thrift store a couple of years ago. I've never worn it because I haven't been to an evening formal event since then. I guess every Sunday may turn into a formal event for me if that's the only skirt that ends up fitting as I grow!
