You can live in the country and don't have to worry about mice in the house! I so miss having kitties. Friend Hubby would like a couple to keep outdoors but my tender heart wouldn't make them stay there.
You hear a nagging meow that wants to MAKE you sit down and read a book in order to have a nice lap to keep warm. :)

When all of your yarn looks like "something the cat wouldn't drag in"
You hear thump, rattle, crash in the middle of the night...on a regular basis.
All the breakables are on the lowest shelves in the house (cat proof...the opposite of child proof)

when you find yourself opening and closing the door for the kitty
aleast a dozen times a day.
when all your chairs are covered with cat fur.

You have a dedicated counter in the kitchen that you don't prepare food on because "it's the cat's" spot.

..... when you select new furniture entirely based on how well it will hold up to cats.
... when you have lint rollers strategically placed all over your house, in the garage, and in the car.
... when you have a sign by your front door which reads "Ring Doorbell and Win a Cat."
.... when you can hardly fit in your Queen-sized bed because of furry bodies sharing it with you.
.... when you don't need to use a heater in your house because you have enough cats to keep warm.
.... when you remodel not one but two patios into "Catios" just for your furry friends.
..... when people call you Crazy Cat Lady, and mean it.
..... when you've learned that no food in the house can be left unattended for any period of time, and you find yourself taking a plate of food into the bathroom with you.
.... when you've learned that coasters are best used on TOP of glasses to prevent kitties from drinking out of your glass.
... when you intentionally leave closets open because you're sure that there's a cat in there.
.... when you buy enough cat food and kitty litter to otherwise feed a family of 6.
.... when hear thumps and crashes all night long and it never occurs to you the possibility that it could be a burglar, because you know a burglar would be MUCH, MUCH quieter.
..... when you find floss picks and pens and Q-tips and plastic bottle caps and all other missing items in various places around your house ... under beds, on the couch ... in your shoes.
.... when there's no such thing as "alone time" in the bathroom.
.... when you have cat doors installed in every bedroom door in your house because if you didn't the cats would just bang on the door until you let them in, anyway.
.... when you've installed a row of carpeted Cat Wallks along the ceiling of your family room so your silly cats have some place to climb and perch, vulture style.
.... when you're glad that there's a moth or fly in the house because your cats LOVE to chase and play with them.

yes! every time I go to the bathroom, Cat rushes in. If she can't do anything, she at least checks her litter box or jumps in it for a second (is she worried I might use it?). If there is company and I close the door, she waits outside.
At night I wake up to purring. I know to be careful moving about in bed, even in my sleep.

...You wake up and the first thing you see is huge yellow/green/blue/orange eyes staring you down with that "If you don't feed me right this second, I will eat you" look.
