Still windy and today we had a little bit of rain...Oh, and I had a cookie with toffee in it and pecans. It was yummy.

Speaking of Alice in Wonderland, I saw the cleverest ever licensed merchandise for a movie at the grocery store yesterday: Tetley Tea tins with the Mad Hatter on them.

I've never read or seen Alice In Wonderland.

Don't start by seeing the movie, then. From what I can tell it's absolutely nothing like the book (which is well worth reading BTW).

Really? I heard it was a fairly good interpretation of the book; especially since you have to drop acid to comprehend the story...apparently the movie is the same way.

Just based on the trailer, I don't recall (for example) Alice ever going off to war to fight for the White Queen. Or maybe she did and I just don't remember? Don't get me wrong; I'll probably go see it, but I've always thought it best to read a book before seeing the movie it's based on. Call me a geek that way.

And if we were going for period accuracy, opium would be the better choice, since that's what a lot of writers were using back then.

I don't like these disturbing Tim Burton remakes. I guess I should read the book.

I saw the cartoon version.

DH is the same way.

DH and Cheesecakelette just finished reading "Swiss Family Robinson". It took them a few months! lol. We've had the movie since Christmas but have been waiting to see it until the book was finished. (I've seen the movie, they haven't).

This weekend we will get to finally watch it.

Oh I do the same thing. I read it and now my head is spinning.

I'm still annoyed that I never got to read Pride and Prejudice before the A&M Miniseries came out; I'll never have my own mental images from that book now. Same goes for Harry Potter... I avoided seeing the movies until after I'd read the books, but just the advertising was enough to imprint someone else's mental images on my imagination. I will always wonder how I would have pictured Harry if I'd read the books first.

Then again, sometimes movies get things so right, visually speaking, that they overwrite my mental images... Lord of the Rings, for example.

The book, "Gone with the Wind" was much better than the movie ... I remember seeing the movie as a girl and being mad that they completely left out her other two children!

I can think of very few movies which I consider to be better than the book. I will always be biased toward the print version, assuming the book isn't based on the screenplay or something. I guess I didn't major in English Lit for nothing.

I thought the exact same thing!!!! I loved the book, and was REALLY ticked off that the movie didn't do it justice.

I love gone with the wind.. the book and the movie. I am not too disappointed in the movie version.. i mean the book and movie are both pretty long, but I agree on including the other kids.

I'm not sure whether I prefer The Princess Bride as the movie or the book (written after the movie, I think). Both were just awesome.

Oh, I hate the Princess Bride book. It's one of the very rare cases where the movie is actually better.

I know! What is even worse is the GWTW book sequel really was a sequel of the movie, not the book. There was no mention of those other 2 kids.

If you watch the GWTW movie as just a movie and not based on a book, it's pretty good. It is one of my favorites.

I've heard that Little House On The Prairie is very different too. I love the DVD's of them. I've ordered in the books to read now.

The book "sequel" to gone with the wind was awful. I knew they should have left alone but curiosity got me and I read it. Waste of time.
