Not going on any trip this summer. Of course I do live in Hawaii most people want to come here.

We're leaving for Florida in about 9 days. I can hardly wait!

I went shopping and have only found 1 pair of shorts for the trip.

I hope to get to the store soon...but it's proving difficult working these crazy hours.

PHOTO ALBUM FROM YESTERDAY'S TRIP TO THE COAST!

I went to Carmel and Monterey for a one-day trip yesterday with one of my girlfriends! I ate my regular healthy breakfast in the car, and then an apple for a mid-morning snack. Lunch in Carmel was wonderful: fresh crab cakes and then grilled Monterey Sand Dabs. We spent the afternoon poking around in stores and exploring the Carmel Mission, before heading over to Fisherman's Wharf to see the sea lions and have dinner. Dinner, by the way, was roasted garlic and then a calamari steak ... yum yum yum! (I had the shark there last time, so I wanted to try something different!) I also tasted some of my friend's scallops and clam chowder ~ it was a happy seafood day! And I loved the weather (which was 30-40 degrees cooler than here.)

The scale wasn't as happy with my trip as I was, though ... hee hee hee. Anyway, I'm up 1.2 pounds, but I did eat more sodium than usual and my "monthly visitor" arrived yesterday, so I am confident this is just temporary. Anyway ... back to "normal" life today!

We got some gardening done today ... bushes trimmed, dead flowers pulled out, that sort of thing. We also planted some more sunflower seeds, filled bird feeders, and did some extra watering out front since it's been so warm here this summer.

And we did some grocery shopping, and picked up a new prescription for my oral diabetic med (we called the doc and she told us she'd write us a new prescription for half the dosage I was taking before ... yay!)

Now we're going to be watching "License to Wed" on DVD with Robin Williams...

Congrats on the decrease is dosage Harvie!

License to Wed is a pretty okay movie. I saw it a few years back. Let us know how you like it!

I can't wait until sunday - I'm giving MMP his birthday present a little early since I don't know if I'll see him again until Florida.

I'll have to scan his guitar pick in...it turned out really well.

We gave up on the movie about halfway through ~ we didn't find it that funny/fun.

It's cooled down to 90, maybe we'll bike a wee bit!

Well at least you didn't pay $$$$ for it.

I want to see the Beezus & Ramona movie that has come out. I love the books by Beverly Clearly when I was younger.

I have been shopping for a week for new clothes and stuff for this job. It's not fun.

The stores are just starting to work on their fall stuff and the summer stuff is pretty picked over.

Now I have to go get some clothes altered. I really wish they sold clothes according to the acutal size charts.

All this talk of going on trips.

I've been thinking that I haven't been on a holiday for years. We were going to go on holiday a couple of years ago, and the finances just didn't work out, no matter how hard we tried. I'm thinking that I'd really love to go somewhere that I've never been before, even if it's in my own country. John is from the state of South Australia. I've never been there before, and they have a place there called Hahndorf. It's a German settlement. I'd love to go and see the crafts etc. The capital city there, Adelaide, Joan tells me there are lots of craft places there too. I'm going to ask them to pray about whether or not we go. I sure hope so. It won't be for another year yet, if we do. That way it will give plenty of time to save.

I haven't been on a holiday for a while either, so you're not alone. I miss being able to get away. My husband gets most of his weekends off and then gets his two weeks of vacation time, so he feels like he gets a break, even if we stay home. I, on the other hand, don't feel like I ever get time off unless we go away.

We never take any trips, either. The last time we went on vacation was in 1999, we went to DisneyWorld. We don't even take small weekend trips, and haven't been anywhere on our own, just the two of us.

I am thinking about going to see that one too. I loved Beverly Cleary when I was growing up too. My children never really got the blessing of reading her books. Now they are all grown, so I don't have any little ones to take with me.

We've traveled more in the past than lately, primarily because my wonderful DH's deployment schedule increased in the last three years. We've still been taking 2-3 day trips to Monterey + Carmel (3 hours from here), but that's the only place we've been since January 2009 ... when we went to Maui. On the other hand, 2008 was a very busy travel year for us: 2 trips to Alaska (7 day cruise + 10-day air/land trip) plus 10 days in Hawaii (Oahu.) In 2007, I did 2 weeks in Florida (when DH was there) and 8 days in Hawaii with him. In 2004, we went on a 3-week cruise to South America and visited Chile, Argentina, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands, Uruguay and Brazil. And in 2005, I spent 2 weeks in Bogota, Colombia while my wonderful DH was stationed down there. (I've also traveled to Canada, Mexico, England and Scotland.)

Of course, my wonderful DH has been all sorts of places that I haven't been ... often en route to or from his deployments in Iraq.... Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Germany, Qatar, Kuwait, England, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Spain. And a few years before that, he was in Colombia, Panama, and Curacao. (And I'm not even talking about when he was TDY in Germany or attending the University of Madrid when he was younger.) He's also been to Mexico, China, Hong Kong, and Macau on mission trips.

Some days I like shopping, some days I don't!
(Some days I like stepping on the scale, some days I don't!)

You know it's gonna be one of "THOSE" days when you are all dressed for church and spill an entire bowl of cereal down your front .... So I change, opting to just wear my bra for breakfast (with the rest of my outfit), so I don't do so again ... and the doorbell rings (unexpectedly) and it's my neighbors! You should've seen me scramble to put down the cereal and race to put on my top! LOL!

Breakfast shouldn't be this challenging!

Poor Molly!

I made cookies yesterday. Two different kinds. Did a little cleaning and a little laundry, sat outside with Bailey. That's about it.

I'm exhausted. If one more customer asks for anything or calls or I hear I need more sheets I am going to scream. I have done 8 industrial size loads of laundry and have 1 more washing right now. I am tired and I can't wait to shower! This is the first time I've sat down in 7 hours! Only one more to go and then it's scramble home and clean up and wait for mmp to get here. Our date tonight is going to be doing laundry and grocery shopping - how thrilling eh? :)
